One thing you should do is leave the car in first you are parked on hill going up and leave it in reverse if you are going down a hill. Also turn the wheels to the right if going down or turn the wheels to the left if you're going up this helps to stop the car.
and here is the drift button BOOM
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (I) knew it!! Texan accent! He's a southerner
boom clutch
the sound of my heart the beat goes on and on and on and on and
I need advice. Here's my situation. I bought an sti. I've never EVER owned a stick shift car until now. My uncle taught me how to drive stick years ago. I would drive my friends old car around time to time but I never really was good at it but I could get around and since then I haven't driven a stick until now. I thought I could just pick up where I left off and muscle memory will come back to me. I unfortunately stalled 3 times taking it home. I've had it for 5 days now. Of those 5 days, I've taken it out 3 days (about an hour each time) around my neighborhood in hopes to get back on my feet when it comes to manual. The first day I stalled 3 times. Second 3 times And today I stalled once. Also at home my driveway has an incline. Thanks to the hill hold feature I find parking straight in easier but its still even more difficult for me because I either give to much gas or I'm not letting out the clutch slow enough. There's a houseful of car guys across the street and I feel like a total embarrassment, not to mention I stalled a couple times leaving my drive way in reverse. Idk I feel at this point perhaps I made a huge mistake and I may never get it down. And FYI in case your wondering. The sti is my dream car.
sent here by gingium, go check him out. 🙂
I hate our tacs rather they swapped rpm with the speedo in size and position.
okay my gears are really short. Say I'm in like 3rd gear going like 30 and am slowing down and turning into a parking lot and need to go to like 5 mph. My car will physically not let me go into 1st after shifting out of it unless I completely stop again or else the gears will grind. 5 mph is way to slow to be going in 2nd. The RPM's will be way to low and my engine will lug. what do i do?
do you have to release gas to shift
I know this is an old video, but any tips on a shaky 1st to 2nd shift? I can take off fine but I the car still jerks a bit on the 1-2 shift..
Lol today my dad was teaching me how to drive stick and it shut off on me in the middle of a Main Street and it was so nerve wrecking but toward the end of the day I got better and I never had more fun driving
2.5 years later and this video happened again lol ?
What car do you recommend for my first manual?
You forgot to cover double clutching, if you don't souble clutch you will be putting more strain on you syncros and causing them to wear fast. Double clutch also makes the gear transisiton smoother. For those unaware double clutching is pushing the clutch in shifting into neutral then pushing the clutch in again and shifting into your next gear.
I already know how to drive stick. why am I watching this??
I keep killing my dads manual car at stop lights do you have anymore tips that could help me
Good stuff man!
I just got a manual car two weeks ago …when you come to turn at a light….say your in 3rd and After you turn your in 2nd. I clutch then brake and shift to 2nd….I hold the clutch and then accelerat after I turn. am I doing it right?
Havn't driven manual for many years. Bought an manual car and was very frustrated with it.
Have watched your videos and it helped me very much. Thanks from Israel!
If everyone knew how to do it, it wouldn't be anti-theft. Driving manual is like a private social club I LOVE IT
I can't drive a stick, but I can ride one?
Awesome video man. Very thorough. I was skeptical when I saw 24 min but def worth it. Nice job
hey just wondering that box looking thing on your windshield is dash cam?
You’ve helped me out a whole lot thanks man I’m in the process of buying a wrx
Do u have to hold in the clutch put on neutral then brake? How do u drive when u fully brake
So does that mean that you put it in neutral once you’ve come to a stop at a stop sign?
At what speed should you go from 1st to 2nd etc
